Where it all begins: Normal Zebra Cafe

The first Normal Zebra outlets will be coffee shops, strategically located in collegiate and tech-centered communities where higher densities of neurodiverse populations may be found. Normal Zebra Cafe #1 will launch in Portland, Oregon in 2026.

Why Coffee Shops?

Capital-Efficient Entry Point: Manageable initial investment with established cost benchmarks and scalable unit economics.

Validated Operating Model: A mature retail category with predictable workflows, supply chains, and performance metrics.

Workforce Development Platform: Customer-facing roles provide structured skill-building in communication, task execution, and professional confidence.

High-Visibility Design Laboratory: Physical retail environments allow inclusive design principles to be demonstrated, tested, and refined at scale.

Ubiquitous, Low Adoption Friction: A high-frequency consumer behavior requiring no market education — enabling rapid validation and repeatable expansion.

Beyond Coffee: The Normal Zebra Ecosystem

Our vision extends far beyond the café. Once we establish our proof of concept, Normal Zebra will expand into diverse lifestyle categories, each designed with neurodiverse employees and customers at the center.

These outlets share common characteristics: low costs of entry, customizable repetitive workflows, opportunities for tech enablement, and service environments that can be better designed for diverse customer communities.
